And Honey I Miss You

This is a really sad song that I could not fully understand the grief when I first heard it. Who was 'Honey'? How old was she? How did she die? There was no clue in the lyrics and the song remained a haunting favorite of mine. Listening to it sends the shiver down my spine and the feeling of intense loneliness of losing a very dear one.

Bobby Goldsboro sang it exceptionally well through his quivering and strong voice. It was released in 1968 and immediately rose to #1 in the Billboard Hot 100 Singles Chart selling over a million copies. It was possibly Bobby's most successful hit. Bobby is 70 now and sells paintings. Check HERE.

Dear Peter, you are right this song surely gets a person deep inside, the lyrics would be for a lady around 25 years old as just taking that he was 27 years old when it was a hit in 1968, and somewhere in the song the lyrics 2 years ago came up,so whether its written for his wife or girlfriend is unknown, but surely for someone he cared obviously to sing it with so much passion and emotion. Then again it could be for someone much younger, your guess is as good as mine, anyway just chill it Peter, regards AL MAL.

Al, we are at the age when we start thinking of who will go first. This song does strike a very lonely chord. Living with a vacuum is never easy. I guess having children and grandchildren help relieve the loneliness when the day comes one day. Yea, meantime we should learn to chill it. I certainly will. Peter.
